Living Water is the summer theme for 2010. Each day campers will look at both the spiritual and physical importance of water in our lives. In order to prepare those daily studies we are working with the Corner House at UW-Milwaukee. On Tuesday nights, beginning February 2nd, college students involved in the ministry at the Corner House will gather for Bible study. From those discussions we will create a curriculum to be used by summer camp counselors. The night begins with a meal at 5:00 followed by the group discussion from 6:00 - 7:00.
Youth directors and pastors: If you did not receive the email below (or if it went directly to your spam box)- here's the text from that message. Consider yourself invited. Greetings from the Corner House I wanted to share some news about what we are up to at the Corner House and campus ministry at UW-Milwaukee. As the second semester begins, we are hoping to find more students who would like to get involved in campus ministry.
On Tuesday nights we host a meal at the house (3074 N Maryland) beginning at 5:00. Following that meal (6:30) we are starting a weekly "Living Water" study. Each week we will look at another biblical text concerning water. Throughout the semester we'll also spend time considering how we use water in our daily lives and around the world. With nearly one billion people in the world lacking safe drinking water this basic human need should be at the forefront of any discussion concerning justice in the world. Certainly there are plenty of biblical passages to draw from as there are numerous resources within the community to address fresh water in the world.
If you have students who attend UWM who may be interested in joining us please either forward their contact information to this address or forward this email to their attention. Second, if you would like to lead or join a discussion on a particular passage some Tuesday night, please let me know. Third, if you, or someone in your congregation would like to provide one of the meals for our Tuesday night gathering, that would be fantastic. Finally, additional comments and resources are always welcome. Feel free to forward them to this email address. Thanks much.
