Our Mission:
It is the mission of Camp Indian Sands to connect the youth of Milwaukee to Christ through outdoor ministry experiences. Our Core Connections: - Creation - In the outdoors campers learn to take positive risks, develop new skills and stand in wonder at all that God has made.
- Christ - We profess the gracious and merciful love of God shown through Jesus Christ, for us.
- Community - Our staff work to build strong friendships among a diverse group of campers from different cultural, racial and economic backgrounds.
Our Site: Camp Indian Sands is committed to outdoor ministry experiences for people of all ages with a special emphasis on the urban youth of the Greater Milwaukee area. Located two hours northwest of Milwaukee, CIS is far enough that you can really get away from it all during a week at summer camp and close enough to escape for a weekend retreat. With over 900 feet of shoreline on Tuttle Lake the camp provides a great place for swimming, canoeing and evening campfires at the beach. The open fields are a perfect place to run and play in the outdoors while the shade trees provide a great place to sit and relax. Come and see how our 50 acre site is ready to serve your group's outdoor ministry needs. Let's explore together how our site and programs can serve your child, church or retreat group. Our History: - Incorporated in 2007, Camp Indian Sands is a nonprofit organization serving as a place to connect kids to Christ in the outdoors.
- The camp (land, buildings, name, and some of the first board members) were all a gift from Ascension Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, who operated the camp from the 1960s through 2005.
- The camp operated one week of camp in 2007, three weeks of camp in 2008 and four weeks of camp in 2009.
- Today we serve groups of many denominations and affiliations through our 2010 summer program "Living Water"
